Tony Farkas's Journey - Operation Guarulhos
The year is 2070, in a dystopian and hopeless Brazil, after being the victim of a terrible invasion. After hearing a curious and strange message on his late father's old radio, which said that Brasilia was the last safe place in the country, Tony Farkas gathers the courage to pack his bags and travel to Guarulhos International Airport with the His beloved dog Max. In the middle of the road, he discovers that he is not the only carioca alive in Rio de Janeiro. He meets other young people who live in the same precarious and dangerous conditions as he - with shortages of food, drinking water and safety. Because with the besieged country the streets are not safer. However, Tony manages to convince his new friends to follow him to Guarulhos. Until the truth, during the journey, leaves him as perplexed as he is stunned, and everything he thought he knew about the war and the invasion suddenly changed. In a story full of adventure, romance intrigues and betrayals, Tony Farkas will have a difficult mission ahead, and his future is as uncertain as unlikely.
About the author
I was indeed fascinated by the demonstrations that took place between the middle of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. I saw there a vivid flame of patriotism and a spirit of unity, as I had not seen for a long time - as I confess that there were no more acts like Those in our society so fragile and forgotten by top government officials. It was really something majestic to see. People flooding the streets with shouts of order ¬ - almost begging for a peaceful and more than late revolution. Nothing but for a nation to be appropriate or even adequate.
Unfortunately, the 2014 World Cup ended up blurring the view of almost a whole population. With each game transmitted, through the TV, the strength of that same austere and fearless people was lost in the forgetfulness of their memories. And once again I realized how a sporting and seemingly harmless event can make the memory of a nation dilute so quickly and conformably. The demonstrations ceased, and life went on as if nothing had ever happened before.
In 2015, one of the biggest scandals was stamped on every front page of each of the country's most famous newspapers - the involvement of men and women from high-ranking public officials and imposing Petrobras officials in what later became known as the biggest crime "collar White "world history.
In these three years, I have been tempted to write a novel that can translate into pages how problematic it can be in a country with so many socioeconomic problems, and how frustrating it can be for you as a citizen to feel so powerless in the face of so much selfishness and conformity.
Tony Farkas's journey - Operation Guarulhos is much more than just a novel to me. It is a glimmer of hope that I hope to see in a few years in this Brazil so abandoned and abandoned by the authorities.
